Egypt to Start Operating Sudanese Electricity Link by 2018 End

Egypt is expected to begin operating the 100-MW first phase of the electricity link with Sudan by the end of this year, governments sources told Daily News Egypt (via Reuters).

Roughly 91% of the drilling work for the first phase of the project is complete, the officials said.

The 300-MW capacity link will connect the Egyptian and Sudanese energy grids, and is being delivered by Indian engineering and construction company Larsen & Toubre, Enterprise reported in July.

Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker held a meeting on October 29 with leaders in the electricity sector to discuss developments surrounding the project.
